Sport England volleyball grant awarded
27th May 2010
Sir Thomas
Boteler Church of England High School have been awarded a grant of in
excess of £6,000 from Sport England to develop and run afterschool and
community volleyball activities. Working in partnership with the Sport
for All Centre, the Warrington School Sports Partnership, the
Bridgewater Diamonds Volleyball Club and Volleyball England, the bid
will help with the provision of equipment for secondary school age and
adult volleyball in Warrington.
Volleyball
is an attractive alternative to other contact sports, and can be single
sex or mixed. As a developing, exciting sport to play, we hope that the
new facilities for volleyball will be of appeal to the Warrington and
surrounding communities.
It is
expected that the equipment will be installed in August, and the Sport
for All Centre will start offering sessions for school years 9 onwards
throuh to adults. It is also expected to become a home venue for the
Bridgewater Diamonds Volleyball Club who continue to be an integral part
of the development of volleyball in Warrington.
